Terms of Service

Rent Lapland — Terms of Service Last updated: July 2026 1. About Rent Lapland Rent Lapland is a peer-to-peer online platform that connects vehicle owners with people wishing to rent vehicles. We are not a party to any rental agreement. All rental contracts are made directly between the vehicle owner and the renter. The platform operator and the sole vehicle owner are currently the same natural person. 2. Eligibility To make a booking you must be at least 18 years old, hold a valid driver's licence for the vehicle category, and provide accurate personal information. 3. Bookings and payments Payments are processed securely via Stripe. A refundable security deposit is charged at the time of booking. Rent Lapland collects payment on behalf of the vehicle owner and remits it accordingly. 4. Cancellations and refunds The security deposit is charged at the time of booking and refunded within 5–10 business days following a successful return, subject to the vehicle being returned in the same condition as received, with the agreed fuel level, on time, and in compliance with the rental contract terms. Rent Lapland is not responsible for delays caused by the recipient's bank or payment processor. The vehicle owner reserves the right to retain the deposit in full or in part to cover: damage beyond normal wear, missing or incorrect fuel level, late return fees, cleaning costs above normal use, failure to follow return instructions, or any other breach of the rental contract terms. The deposit cannot be withheld in the event of owner cancellation — a full refund including the deposit will be processed in all cases of owner cancellation. Renter and owner cancellation terms are set out in the rental contract. 5. Platform role and liability Rent Lapland is a peer-to-peer platform only. We do not own, operate, or inspect the vehicles listed on our platform. We are not liable for the condition of vehicles, accidents, injuries, or any loss arising from a rental agreement between a vehicle owner and renter. The vehicle owner is responsible for their own insurance, vehicle roadworthiness, and compliance with Finnish traffic law. 6. Prohibited use You may not use the platform for any unlawful purpose, to provide false information, or to circumvent our payment system. 7. Governing law These terms are governed by Finnish law. Disputes shall be resolved in the District Court of Lapland (Lapin käräjäoikeus) or through the Finnish Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariitalautakunta.fi) where applicable. 8. Changes We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance. Contact booking@rentlapland.com
